An Important and confidential program is the Lions Club/Foundation “Food for the Holidays” effort. This program has been in existence for over 20 years. Last year 80 families in the area were beneficiaries. As the holiday season approaches, our members obtain input from individuals, churches, schools, and community outreach programs to identify families which are in food crisis. The Lions purchase food gift cards to provide help to them. Initially started as a grocery basket, which was funded , boxed and delivered for each family by Lions, it has evolved into a more efficient and effective provision of a gift card to each family. During non-holiday times, the Lions help support the Church at the Lake Food Pantry, to help ease the burden.
Each year, we are contacted by our local supporters to find out how to donate to this effort. This year, we want to spread awareness on how everyone can help us with this program. It is your opportunity to provide a holiday gift to those in need in your community.
Many in our community support the Lions Club through the Polar Bear fundraiser. Others prefer a direct donation to a specific cause, such as the “Food for the Holidays” program. We welcome any help you can give in whatever program makes the most sense for you. Your “Food for the Holidays” Program donation is tax deductible. We are preparing for a greater need this holiday season. Now is your chance to donate directly in time for the holidays. Every dollar received will go to those in need. Our club is all volunteer, and a 501(c )(3) public charity
